These parts are re-usable from one hose to the next. These hoses have ribs inside running lengthwise to help prevent kinks. In order to get the Dramm ends to work without leaks, I had to carefully remove (cut) the ribs at the hose end before inserting the new replacement fitting. After that, they still leaked because the two clamps were bottoming out and couldn't provide enough "bite" to seal the hose to the fitting. Three wraps of electrical tape were required to add enough diameter to the hose in order to provide a leak free repair. Overall, these are about the best out there, but just know that they will not work out of the box with all 5/8 inch hoses. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful Good Product, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Dramm 22312-5/8-Inch Hose End Mender Set with Nickel Plated Brass and Metal Clamps (Lawn & Patio) I don't hardly ever leave a review but I think this product is great. I've been buying cheap hose repair fittings from my local hardware stores. Those are made of plastic and are designed to fit both 5/8" and 3/4" hoses...They don't work that well on 5/8" hoses and they are just basically cheap. These Dramm fittings are a lot more expensive but they are much better made than the cheap fittings and are actually made for a 5/8" hose. They were easy to install and work great. So if you want a feeling that you are doing something right when you finish your hose repair buy these. |
