Half of the top lifts up on the front side so you can use the hose guide to nicely place the hose on the reel without having to get dirty from touching the hose itself. The handle felt fairly flimsy at first but after a summer of use I've noticed it's held up very well and hope it does in the long run. I recommend going on Suncast's website to find the model and check it out there for details. The color is just like what is shown in the picture. It also comes with a 4 foot extension hose to hook up to the faucet which I didn't realize until it showed up and after I bought an extension separate. I have a very thick higher-end 100' hose and it fits nicely with a little extra room without ever binding up inside. To get a true 175' you would have to have a very cheap/thin hose so be careful if that's what you are looking for. Both of them have a "Smart Track" rewind. This one does not, causing it to rewind with the hose unevenly placed along the reel. it is also much lighter and flimsier. Without the Smart Track, it is very hard to pull out the bunched up hose and almost impossible to wind it back.I would never buy another of these and plan to discontinue the use of this one as soon as I can get a replacement. 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful  Better than average, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Suncast PTW175 Mocha Wicker 175-Foot Capacity Hose Reel (Lawn & Patio) This hose reel is better than some others than I've owned in the past however there are some flaws in it's design.Pros: *Sturdy/Durable *Stakes to keep it mounted when reeling *Easy Cranking system *Came pre-assembled *Didn't leak Cons: * While cranking in hose you need one hand to thread the hose in, while the other cranks or the hose doesn't settle well * I own a 5/8" neverkink heavy duty hose and it is 100', this housing doesn't appear to be large enough to handle much more than that amount. I would buy again, or suggest this to people who need 100' or less hose |
