I hooked it up to the water and tested that, which was fine. The flow was a bit limp due to the smaller size but the extra length of the hose would have compensated so I'd have had no trouble reaching the things I want to water.BUT... and oh dear this is a big BUT. It's made of a material that tends to stick to itself, much like cling film. So when one section of hose touches another section of hose which inevitably it will as you drag it around, it clings on and then forms knots. Kinks form very readily and the kinks then develop kinks so you're left with a huge mass of writhing hose that just won't let go of itself. It took me, and I kid you not, a full half hour to wind it up by myself in order to put it back in the box. I had already tried to wind it onto my hose reel but I realised almost immediately that this was not going to work out. It formed pinch points as one area of hose crossed another so if... The problem was that every time i tried to move the hose around to go from one spot to the next, the hose would ultimately fall on top of or catch a plant and break it. It was also a real pain to move the hose due to its weight. I even tried to put some stakes in the ground to stop the hose from falling on top of the plants but that solution didn't work too well either.After some research and reading the reviews I came up with a solution that is working great. I kept the original 100 foot hose (5/8) attached to the spigot and ran it up to the bank. Then I attached a hose splitter to the end of it and connected this ultra light weight 100 foot hose and its 50 foot cousin to it. In this way, the heavy hose just sits there and acts as a spigot for these two light weight... I love the look of the hose and the ease of use. The color also nicely blends in with our mountain side so it is hardly seen when laying on the ground. The water pressure of this smaller hose seems to be less then our bigger diameter hose, however it isn't enough to even dock it a star on the rating because everything else has been so much better then our previous hose. |
