If I fail to drain a metal coupling in the fall, freezing will expand it enough to leak next spring. These devices, both male and female, solve the problem almost effortlessly. I was dubious that the same coupling would work, at least without a struggle, on both 5/8" and 3/4" heavy duty hoses. It goes on both sizes, quickly and easily. It is well made and durable. All my hoses seem to leak at the male fitting, so I gave this male connector replacement a shot. Less than a minute later it was hooked up and leak-free under normal water pressure. This connector was far easier to use than the screw-clamp type connectors.
