I was surprised that I could stretch such a small coiled hose ~75 feet and it returned to its small size after I walked it back in. Bottom line it is much lighter and much more convenient. Also, considering you do not need to pay an extra $50 for a a hose holder it is not that bad of a price. I will caution that there is a little resistance as you approach 70 yards -- it is not too strenous though -- think of a rubber band being fully extended. Second, you need to slightly guide the hose as you walk it back in to the spicket, so it does not tangle (still the tangles are much easier to resolve). Third, the water pressure is slightly less -- nothing too concerning. Regardless, it is a hell of a lot easier then a regular hose and I will not dread watering anymore. I haven't seen a better quality hose than this one. You can putter around the yard with it and not feel like you are pulling a fire hose up to a fire. No more 20 yards of kinks after a year. The coil works great and is relatively tangle free. Even if it does tangle it's easy to untangle. Just realize that if you need 75 feet of actual hose you are not going to get it without some strain on the hose bib.The smaller diameter is the way to go for most uses, but be advised that the water pressure is not going to match a bigger hose. I have low pressure to the hose bib and with this hose and quick change attachments there is some restriction of flow...but there's always a tradoff. I'll take that tradeoff though. At least I actually use it without dread now. Wanted to avoid the cheaper, poorer quality versions.This hose is well made with good quality fittings and robust design. My wife is delighted with it and it's perfect for our narrow, 50 foot wide yard. So much easier than dragging around a heavy conventional hose and then fighting with it to get it back into a coil. Be aware, though, that this 1/2 inch diameter hose will not fill a pool as fast as a conventional 5/8 inch hose. So use it for plants etc. |
